DC Pharmacist (Night Shift) – Midrand Distribution Centre

Responsibilities
1. Legal Compliance
- Ensure the Responsible Pharmacist and company registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Act as the Responsible Pharmacist and ensure compliance with SAPC regulations.
- Inform SAPC of any changes regarding the Responsible Pharmacist.
- Maintain proper display of pharmacist credentials at the facility.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates under the continuous supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Keep directors updated on ethical rules and ensure compliance.
- Renew relevant licenses and stay updated with legislation changes.
2. Medicine Recall Management
- Maintain a medicine recall database as per MCC (Medicines Control Council) guidelines.
- Ensure batch traceability for medicines and record batch numbers on invoices.
3. Returns and Rejected Goods
- Manage returned goods following proper procedures.
- Identify reasons for returns and decide on further action.
- Oversee the repacking, reanalysis, or destruction of rejected goods in consultation with the Production Manager/Distributor.
4. Good Warehousing Practices (GWP)
- Train staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Address deficiencies found in SAPC or MCC inspection reports.
- Ensure the safe disposal of scheduled medicines.
- Maintain logs for temperature control, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
- Implement effective pest control to prevent contamination.
- Oversee the safe and efficient storage of medicines.
5. Staff Training & Human Resource Management
- Train warehouse personnel on Good Warehousing Practices (GWP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
- Equip new staff with necessary tools and skills.
- Resolve employee issues, set goals, and monitor performance.
- Handle staff hiring, performance evaluations, and training programs.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of warehouse employees.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric & B Pharm Degree (Registered with SAPC)
- Experience: 3 years in a similar role within a Distribution Centre
- Skills: Project Management & People Management
Advantageous:
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Qualification in Transport Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics
- Experience in wholesale, operations, and management
Key Competencies
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP)
- Excellent command of English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
- Detail-oriented, trustworthy, and a good leader
